Useful Practice Tips:

  • Ashtanga yoga is a discipline for life. It’s six days in a week practice.

  • Empty your bowels and bladder, take a shower, and then step on the mat to begin your morning practice. If practicing in the evening or afternoon, no food for 3-4 hours prior to practice.

  • During practice, breathe from the nose (mouth always remains closed while breathing). Use deep Ujjayi breathing.

  • If you are a beginner, do not stretch too much, respect your body. There is a thin line between flexibility and injury. Sometimes it’s hard to identify that line especially if you are new to Yoga, so take it easy and go slow on your own body.

  • It’s very important to lie down in Shavasana for 10-15 mins after the practice. Observe the calmness and vibrations within.

  • Eat light food, like juicy fruit or vegetable juice after the practice.

  • Moondays are rest days due to extreme high and low energies. No practice on Moondays.

  • During ladies’ holidays (menstrual cycle), don’t practice for the first 3 days. No inversions on 4th and 5th day.

  •  Food should be such which helps progress the practice. Satvic aahaar and vichaar will strengthen and help to advance the practice. Eat healthy and more raw fruits and vegetables.

  • Your self practice is your best teacher. Guruji says. “You will get all the answers on the mat”.

  • Make a journal, you will enjoy looking back into it later.

  • Yoga gives flexibility, focus, strength and balance in every sphere of life.

   • Be grateful whenever possible, and it’s always possible.
